GO Week – Jungle Jen Jenkins

January 31, 2025

Jen Jenkins, also known as “Jungle Jen, ” felt called to be a missionary to unreached people groups from the time she was eight years old. Twenty years later, God opened the door for that calling to be fulfilled when she became a Journeyman with the International Mission Board.

After months of language instruction and jungle survival training, she embarked on a three-day boat trek up the Amazon River and made her home among the Amazonian “M” community. There, she lived without electricity, slept in a hammock, bathed in the river, dined on turtle heads, and cared for her pet monkey, Nicco, all while following the heart of the Father to reach the community for Christ.

After her first two-year stay, the community had a church congregation of over 60 members and two men trained to be pastors.

Jen returned to the U.S. in 2012 and started her own church-planting nonprofit organization called Stand Out Ministries. Through this ministry and the power of the Holy Spirit, she has started over 50 churches, distributed thousands of Bibles to unreached people groups, dug 27 safe drinking wells, and made countless disciples, several of whom are now ministering and planting churches themselves.

Jungle Jen’s countless stories of adventure and faith are being shared worldwide to encourage other Christians to answer their call from God to “Stand Out” and live lives of eternal significance.
